Eve And The Handyman Review

 

Honestly boys and girls I honestly have no freaking clue how i'm going to intro this review because this film is freaking bad that I honestly considered scrapping / canning this review mere moments / seconds / minuets before I started writing this very review because this film is that freaking bad. As such all I have to say is join me as I review the 1961 Russ Meyer film that made me want to cancel this review before I even started this review and before I even reached the half way point of the film because this film is that bad with the film itself being called simply "Eve And The Handyman" enjoy.

Now then boys and girls here is where I would normally summarise what the plot of this film is and thus give you my opinions on the plot of this film. However Russ Meyer chose not to give this film any kind of plot whatsoever which is always a bad move since even bad Russ Meyer movies have at least a very weak / a very small plot but this film doesn't have a plot and so what we are left with is a film has no story and doesn't even try to tell a story which defeats the purpose of this film even existing because the film now has no purpose / no reason to exist.

There are only three main actors in this film with the people who are starring in this film being Eve Meyer as Eve , Anthony-James Ryan as The Handyman and Lee Merrin as The Narrator of this particular film. Like I said there are only three main actors in this film with the rest of the films cast being extra's and nothing more and some of this films characters are all for some strange reason being played by Eve Meyer herself and they never even explain why almost half if not all of the girls in the town this film is set in all look like Eve Meyer which I felt was a rather odd choice.

In terms of what I thought about the acting that's featured / presented to us in this film in all honesty the acting that's featured / presented to us in this film isn't that bad and that's just based on the fact that the only person doing any kind of acting is Lee Merrin. Since yeah neither Eve Meyer or Anthony-James Ryan speak at all in this film which kind of makes it hard to judge there acting in this film but I will say that both Eve Meyer and Anthony-James Ryan look like that are perfectly cast in this film.

This film is very much like The Immoral Mr. Teas in that there are very freaking few main characters in this film and that none of the characters in both films actually have speak / have any lines of dialog. This makes me wonder if Russ Meyer was trying to make this film be almost exactly like The Immoral Mr. Teas but what he instead should have done is make this film actually good instead of trying to copy what worked in what was then his only successful film but that's just what I think anyways and that's just in my very humble and as well as being in my very honest opinion anyways. 

In a rather shocking move there is very little to no nudity in this film whatsoever which considering that this is a Russ Meyer film was a bit shock to me personally. Which honestly made it very hard for me to justify it being on this blog since this film is so safe for work that it could fit on my main blog (Movies Reviews Are Awesome click right here to take you to the blog in question) which honestly makes me wonder why the poster in this film says that this film is for adults only since there's nothing that's in this film that's strictly for adults.

Like I said at the start of this review this film is so bad that it honestly made me want to can / scrap this review. Which is a very rare thing for me to do and the only other film that made me want to scrap / can the review of that film was the 2008 animated film Delgo and so it takes alot for me to even consider not reviewing a movie and this film almost got me to that point because nothing really happens in this film at all but that's just what I think anyways and that's just in my very humble and as well as being in my very honest opinion anyways.

This film is meant to be a romance film (at least it's meant to be a romance film according to IMDB at least) and there's nothing in this film that even hints at a romance between our two main characters or any of the characters that appear in this film at all. As such I have to wonder where the heck / hell IMDB got the idea that this film was meant to be a romance film because there's nothing romantic about this film at all infact the main female character Eve comes across as a bit of a stalker since she spends the entire film following her supposed love interest while he's just trying to do his normal / average work.

This film has a total running time of one hour and eleven minuets and thirty four seconds which / and even tho that is a very short running time considering that this film has no plot whatsoever that running time still feels a bit on the long side. Honestly since this film has no plot to speak of whatsoever there's / I see no reason as to why this film couldn't have been at the very most fifteen to twenty minuets long since that's all the time you really need in order to tell whatever the basic premise of this film is actually supposed to be.

Now then boys and girls this film is listed as a comedy film on IMDB and so that means that I have to talk about the actual comedy that's featured / presented to us in this / the actual film itself and if i'm being the comedy thats featured / presented to us in this film is the best part of this film. Since alot of the jokes in this film are really funny with my personal favourite joke in this film being one that involves an alarm clock that just won't stop ringing since it's a simple set up and the pay off is really freaking funny in my opinion and I do have to say that this film has alot of scenes which are just very long set ups all for various punchlines that just aren't funny at all but I always say all form of comedy are subjective and so just because I found alot of the jokes in this film to be rather unfunny doesn't mean that you won't find those jokes to be funny and just because I found a joke in this film to be rather funny doesn't mean that you guys / some of you guys or girls might find that same joke to be rather unfunny.

Overall out of all of the Russ Meyer films / movies that i've seen this is perhaps one of the worst ones simply because it's not only a bad film but it's also a really bad Russ Meyer and a rather boring film on top of all of that. Now then boys and girls since i've talked about both of the good things that are to be found in this film in this review and i've also talked about both of the bad things that are to be found in this film in this very review and as you can tell I didn't like this film at all that means that this film gets a 2 out of 10 from me.

As for where I got all of the images that I used in this review well I got all of the images that I used in this very review from Google Images and nowhere ese and since I only went to Google Images and nowhere else for / to get the images that I used in this very review. That means that I have no other choice but to recommend that you guys use Google Images if for some unknown reason you find yourself wanting to use images from this film and it does help that alot of the images that I personally found on Google Images are fairly high definition and fairly high quality as well.
